Your Alaskan Wildlife Basecamp: Stay at Glacier Bay Lodge

Explore pure wilderness by day, sleep in comfort by night.

If you love wildlife then it's likely that Alaska is already high on your adventure travel to-do list. And while Alaska is about as wild and rugged as they come, that doesn't mean you have to rough it in order to spend time in the wilderness and witness the amazing wildlife that thrives there.

If you want to stay in comfort within Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Glacier Bay Lodge is the place to be. With comfortable rooms, open common space, and delicious food--including fresh-caught local seafood--you just can't beat it.

In addition to the luxury of the lodge itself, a stay at Glacier Bay Lodge also offers immediate access to truly world-class adventures and opportunities for wildlife viewing. With hiking, guided or unguided kayaking, whale watching and even tours by seaplane(!), you'll never have difficulty filling your day with exciting things to do.

On whale watching tours you're likely to see not only whales but all kinds of marine mammals like Alaskan brown bears, stellar sea lions, sea otters, bald eagles, puffins, porpoises, and more.

Tucked into the forest along the shores of the Bay, the lodge has several trailheads leaving from its front door and immediate beach access. In addition to the established trails near the lodge, there is an abundance of off-trail and backcountry hiking opportunities within the park. In fact, the trails beginning at the lodge are the only established trails in the park. Most travel through the park is done off trail or by kayak.

If your ideal vacations consists of wild adventures all day, delicious meals (local Dungeness crab, halibut and salmon!), and a cozy bed each night, you need to book a trip to Glacier Bay Lodge ASAP!
